“Pick & Roll” Tournament Rules and Guidelines
- The tournament is 3 on 3 half-court. Games are outside on asphalt.
- Games are played to 20 points or 20 minutes, whichever comes first. There will be a 20-minute running clock except for the last two minutes of the game, which are stop clock. Each team is allowed one 60-second time out per game. Upon being late, teams will be allowed a five-minute grace period before forfeiting the game.
- Elite/High School/Eighth grade and under divisions will be officiated. All other divisions will be self-officiated with a court marshal on patrol to intervene if necessary and possibly start officiating the game. The court marshal will have complete discretion on all calls.
- Scoring rules in effect: (1pt, 1pt free throws, 2pt-beyond arc.) After each basket the ball will be checked behind a line beyond the three-point arc. On rebounds teams must also clear the ball behind this line. All other regulation basketball rules apply (traveling, double dribble, {3 in the key for officiated divisions only}, etc.).
- A team must register three but can have no more than four players. Substitutions must be made during dead ball situations. Player(s) found playing that are not on a team’s roster - that team will forfeit the game for the first offense and the tournament for the second. - At the discretion of tournament officials, any unsportsmanlike conduct (profanity, fighting, rough play) may result in a minimum of a technical foul and/or ejection from the game and possibly the tournament. If a team receives two technical fouls in one game, that team will forfeit the game.
- A coin toss will determine possession at the start of the game/overtime. Upon the event of a jump ball, possession will alternate based on who started with the ball.
- In case of a tie: If at the end of regulation time and both teams are tied, there will be a sudden death scenario. The first team to score two points is the winner.
